Five Products That Will Say ‘Goodbye Quarantine’ and ‘Hello Summer’

After months of social distancing, summer is finally here. Beaches and stores are slowly beginning to open back up, but you may not feel prepared to step back into society yet. Here are five products that will prepare your body and soul for the arrival of summer.

Self-tanner

Yes, use this product for a literal glow-up. If you’re anything like me and have been pale all throughout quarantine, your soul will thank you for this product. I am a huge anti-sun tanning advocate, so I usually prefer to self-tan to avoid the radiation. A few pumps of a good self-tanner will leave your skin looking bronzed and healthy, and your self-confidence will soar as well.

For that perfect, sunless tan, we recommend St Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse. If you’re starting the tanning process for the first time, we recommend Jergens Natural Glow Healthy Complexion Daily Facial Moisturizer for a more natural glow.

SPF

As any dermatologist will tell you, SPF is critical for you to enjoy the summertime outdoors while keeping your skin looking young and healthy.  Using SPF on your face every morning is a simple step that will ultimately keep your skin looking youthful years from now. There have been several studies that show a correlation between aging and sun exposure, so lather up!

We recommend the Elta MD UV Clear Broad Spectrum face sunscreen for its award-winning formula.

Face razor

You likely skipped a few eyebrow and lip waxing appointments over the last few months, so I’m about to let you in on a secret to never have to schedule these appointments again. Introducing: the face razor. While not an entirely new concept, this step is critical now for me in my skincare routine. Every few days, I use this dry face razor to shave the peach fuzz off my face, which ends up leaving my skin silky smooth for my makeup canvas. And yes, you can use it around your lip! Goodbye, painful waxing appointments. Step out of quarantine with a fuzz-free face, no salon required!

You can grab a face razor at any pharmacy, but grab them on Amazon in a multipack here.

A fun eyeshadow palette

Pastels seem to be the trend of the summer, as several tie-dye startups have shown us. Seize this opportunity to get creative with your makeup. Buy one palette that you absolutely love with colors that embody summertime. Experiment with these colors in your free time, and even try coordinating your makeup with your outfits! It’s important to have creative outlets during times of isolation, and a fun eyeshadow palette will keep you company during any slow summer days.

Face mist

If you use any kind of powder in your makeup routine, you have to buy some kind of face mist. During the summer, cakey makeup will tend to slide off your face if it isn’t set properly. Once you’re done powdering your face during your makeup routine, always set your makeup with face mist to give your skin a natural appearance with no trace of cake face. I also use face mists to hydrate my skin during the summer. Even on oily skin, hydration is key! If you don’t hydrate oily skin, you will actually begin to overproduce oil which will lead to more breakouts. So, use face mists and setting sprays to hydrate the skin and set your makeup during the summer.

We recommend the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray for it’s refreshing feel and the way it locks in makeup.
