September 2021 Book Club Pick: Verity

*Written by Hannah Coleman*

Every month we are thrilled to give you our newest book selection by a female author who we believe has a story to tell with a powerful voice and message. This month remains no exception. While Colleen Hoover’s Verity is a work of fiction, this novel has opened up the literary world to a new type of writing that delves into the inner psyche of the dark and twisted character’s Hoover beautifully constructed. In the words of the author herself, “I don’t like to be confined to one genre. If you put me in a box, I’ll claw my way out.” After reading Verity, it is safe to say that this novel represents many different genres all seamlessly weaved into one phenomenal work of art.

Following the death of her mother, author Lowen Ashleigh is met with an eviction notice, financial distress, and utter loneliness, until a dream offer proves to change the course of her life. Lowen is recruited by Jeremy Crawford, husband of famous author Verity Crawford, to help Verity finish the last three novels in her series after the author suffered a debilitating car accident. Soon Lowen finds herself immersed in the eerie world of the Crawfords as she traspes through Verity’s archives in hopes of understanding this damaged author’s tumultuous life story. Verity is a book you cannot put down as you become entrenched in each and every twist and turn that keeps you holding your breath until the final pages of the novel.
